Heft 1 der von Boje E. Hans Schmuhl herausgegebenen Veröffentlichungen der Stiftung Dome und Schlösser in Sachsen-Anhalt beschäftigt sich mit dem Sachsenspiegel des Eike von Repgow, dem bedeutendsten deutschen Rechtsbuch des Mittelalters. Während die Entstehungszeit auf die Jahre zwischen 1220 und 1235 eingegrenzt werden kann, steht der Ort der Aufzeichnung nicht fest. Er wird sehr wahrscheinlich im östlichen Harzvorland zu suchen sein, was durch die nachgewiesenen Verbindungen des Autors zum hier ansässigen Graf Hoyer gestützt wird.
Das Buch spiegelt den derzeitigen Forschungsstand wider. Heiner Lück ist an der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle Wittenberg Professor für Bürgerliches Recht, Europäische und Deutsche Rechtsgeschichte und Ordentliches Mitglied der Sächsischen Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Leipzig.
Der Band wird durch einen Beitrag von Joachim Schymalla, Historiker und Direktor des Museums Burg Falkenstein, über die Grafen von Falkenstein im Mittelalter ergänzt.
